Remember 1941 at the 2011 New Deal Festival!
Our festival theme is “Remembering 1941.” Come experience Arthurdale
at the cusp of the beginning of America’s involvement in WWII.
1941 on Display
This year we are very fortunate to have been loaned numerous pieces of
New Deal and FDR political memorabilia from the private collection or
Robert Fratkin. It is an amazing exhibit and the New Deal Festival is a
wonderful opportunity to see it!
Living history will also be on display when we welcome Eleanor and
Franklin Roosevelt back to our event as well as reenactors portraying
individuals and pre-WWII military recruiters from 1941.
Antique Car, Truck, Tractor, and Motorcycle Show
The Antique Car, Truck, Tractor Show is being expanded to include
antique motorcycles this year. Registration is $10.00 and the first 75 registrants will receive a wall plaque and be entered to win door prizes. Proceeds from the car show will be used to buy presents for community children at the annual Christmas with Santa event in December.
Tea with Eleanor and Quilt Show
Our annual Tea with Eleanor
will take place the day before the main festival at the Arthurdale Inn.
(Registration is required.) Come back to the Inn on Saturday to see the
quilt show!
Kid’s Activities
We’re planning a bigger and better kid’s area with marble games and
demonstrations, a collection of farm animals to feed and pet, games and
other activities. The WV Raptor Rehabilitation Center will also be there!
Live Entertainment! Wagon Rides and more!
We have a wonderful lineup of local old time, jazz, and bluegrass music
that will be playing on the Center Hall front porch. Also, we’ll have
horse-drawn wagon rides through Arthurdale all day.
